In chapter 6 of On Care for Our Common Home (Laudato Si'), Pope Francis speaks about the importance of ecological education. He mentions how it should take place in catechesis, saying that "Good education plants seeds when we are young, and these continue to bear fruit throughout life" (213) We have taken this very seriously, and have developed the resources below in response.
Our Creation Care Kids Mini-Curriculum and Music Collection have been designed to be flexible—formatted in short segments—so that they can be added to your existing catechetical program or combined into longer sessions.
Pope Francis also stresses the "great importance" of the family and catechesis happening there: "In the family we first learn how to show love and respect for life; we are taught the proper use of things, order and cleanliness, respect for the local ecosystem and care for all creatures" (213) Below you will also find resources for parents, coaching them on how to talk to their children about care for creation.
Use these tools to bring Pope Francis' message to your children and families!
