I never had so much fun reading about saints as I did when I enjoyed Dinner Party with the Saints. I laughed at their amusing interactions as they awaited the arrival of the surprise guests of honor. Woodeene tells the saints’ lives, includes fascinating factoids about the saints and their times, and provides carefully crafted recipes for each saint’s dish—some of which I’m eager to try. Playing off the title from a previous bestseller, she could have called it Love, Pray, and Eat!
We get to know people around the dinner table. Jesus did that. When He met people of all different backgrounds, they eventually were fed by His words and actions. He nourished their souls. They became saints because they accepted the Invitation, 'blessed are those called to the Supper of the Lamb!' I'm grateful that many others are coming to understand the 'theology of food,' which I've been writing and preaching about for years. And I'm especially grateful that this book will help us to get to know Saints at their favorite pulpit: the dinner table!
