This reproducible, interactive resource kit will help you bring the 2025 Jubilee Year of Hope to your parish. Help your people understand the theological virtue of hope, what it means for their daily lives, and how it connects to our call to share the faith with others.

Files are provided in both PDF and Microsoft Word formats so you can adapt them for your local use.

The kit includes:

  • Facilitator background (15 pages) with information, reflections, and references on the theological virtue of hope, drawn from the Jubilee Year, Scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the writings of popes (especially Spe Salvi/Saved in Hope by Pope Benedict XVI), and other Church teaching.
  • Four parish sessions, each for a different age group (see below). Use one or more of these interactive events to introduce the Jubilee year and help attendees dig into what hope means to them. Includes prayers, leader talking points, reflection questions, and handouts.
  • Five simple handouts (5 pages) to be sent home or used by individuals.

Author

Dr. Kathie Amidei has served for many years as Pastoral Associate at St. Anthony on the Lake Parish in Pewaukee, Wisconsin. Before that she was the associate director for Catechesis and Child Ministry for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee and served in a number of parishes as primary teacher and director of religious education. She holds a B.S. in Education, an M.A. in Theology, and a Doctorate in Education and Leadership. A national speaker and writer, she offers many presentations and workshops for catechists and catechetical leaders in parishes and dioceses.

Kathie is a wife, mom, and grandmother. She lives with her husband, Jim, in Nashotah, WI. She enjoys being with her family, exploring how people learn, and encouraging growth in faith. Her passion is to help families engage in their journey of faith in meaningful and practical ways and to infuse parish catechetical ministry with effective and relevant programming.

Patsi Wagner has 17 years experience in parish ministry as Director of Religious Education and as Pastoral Associate for Catechesis. She served public education for 25 years as a teacher and as a staff development trainer for Project GLAD. Currently on the teaching faculty for the Diocese of Orange, Patsi presents classes and workshops in methodology, faith development, and intergenerational catechesis. She holds a Masters Degree in Education from the University of San Francisco. Patsi and her husband David have three adult children and reside in Fountain Valley, CA.

Jane was Coordinator of Youth Ministry Services and Project Coordinator of Young Neighbors in Action for the Center for Ministry Development. Previously, Jane was Director of Faith Formation and Youth Ministry at St. Bernard Parish in Appleton, Wisconsin. She has worked with high school youth for the past 20 years as a high school teacher, youth minister, and coordinator of religious education. Jane holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin and a Master's degree in Theological Studies from St. Norbert College in DePere, Wisconsin. Jane lives in Neenah, Wisconsin with her husband, Abbas. They are the parents of three young adult daughters, Sheila, Amy, and Jessica.

Joan was the Coordinator for Young Neighbors in Action and Fashioning Faith at the Center for Ministry Development. She holds a Master's degree in Pastoral Ministry from Creighton University and a Certificate in Faith and Justice. She is the former president of the National Catholic Young Adult Ministry Association and content editor and author for the USCCB’s book Connecting Young Adults to Catholic Parishes.

Tom was the Director of the Center for Ministry Development, Project Coordinator for Youth Ministry Services, and Coordinator of the Certificate Program in Youth Ministry Studies. He holds a Master of Arts degree in Religious Studies from Mount St. Mary's College in Los Angeles. Tom served as editor and author for Leadership for Catholic Youth Ministry (Twenty-Third Publications), Effective Practices for Dynamic Youth Ministry (Saint Mary's Press), and Ministry Resources for Prayer and Worship (Saint Mary's Press). Tom was also the General Editor for Call to Faith—A Thematic Approach to Young Adolescent Catechesis (Harcourt Religion Publishers). Tom is the 2006 recipient of the National Catholic Youth Ministry Award for National Leadership.
