In the dark, quiet morning, an amazing sound stopped Juan Diego in his tracks. Was he dreaming? He was not. He was about to meet the Mother of our Lord. This visit from Mary changed Juan’s life forever and has influenced the faith of many people since.
Discover the true story of Saint Juan Diego’s conversations with Mary, our Mother, and the evidence of her loving presence that she left behind. Sister Marlyn Evangelina Monge, FSP, and artist Amy Rodriguez vividly recreate the setting and events surrounding Mary’s appearances on Tepeyac Hill in 1531. Our Lady of Guadalupe and Her Dear Juanito features some of the actual dialogue between Our Lady and Saint Juan Diego, faithfully translated from the earliest Spanish-language account of the apparition, and includes an illustrated guide to the rich symbolism of the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, a brief glossary, and prayers. Winner of the 2023 Association of Catholic Publishers (ACP) Award for Excellence in Catholic Publishing.

Great book for kids on Our Lady. Such an engaging story for the kids and pictures are so well done. The prayers at the end to Our Lady of Guadalupe and St Juan Diego are a special bonus. Thank you!
Stunning Artistry, Well written story. Sister Evangelina wrote such a beautiful, riveting book retelling the story of The Virgin of Guadalupe and Juan Diego. I loved it so much it brought tears to my eyes when I read it. I just made a purchase of this book today, but will be back tomorrow to purchase one for each child in my class as a Christmas gift. I only have 8 students in my 4th grade class, so it is within my teacher's budget. My students are studying about Native Americans, Saint Junipero Serra, and the California Missions right now and there has been some controversy surrounding the building of the missions as it is now deemed insulting to Native Americans to do so. I find the story of Juan Diego and the Virgin of Guadalupe such a heart warming and fitting story to reintroduce to my class of 4th graders and Sister Evangelina tells it so beautifully and masterfully in this book. Amy Rodriguez's artwork is stunning and definitely a huge draw and reason for my decision to purchase 8 of these picture books as gifts. I also love that Amy Rodriguez is an LA native. Thank you Sister Evangelina, Amy, and to the Pauline Books and Media Store for making such a beautiful book. The children will adore it.
