"Leave her alone!" This command from the Master to Judas, when Mary has anointed Jesus' feet with expensive oil, announces that her act is noted, defended, and protected. Jesus' command is a testament to Mary's insight, and her understanding of his saving mission. More than the other disciples Mary has not only seen but understood.
In this inspiring work, Megan McKenna retells stories of biblical women as only she can, through the lens of a storyteller who is also a scripture scholar. She introduces us to sides of Hannah and Esther, Rachel and Leah, Martha and Mary, and others--mothers and sisters, widows, wives, and warriors--emphasizing their life-giving qualities and their relationships with God.
All these stories make us pause and reflect ever more deeply on new insights into our foremothers in faith.
