A Collection of Love Sonnets

If you love words well-chosen, the enticing turn of a phrase, and the rhythm of ten artful beats to a line, you will enjoy this collection of sonnets. However, if you have ever found yourself helplessly infatuated, the prisoner of an overwhelming and delightful passion, and captive to a ravenous hunger that only those eyes, that smile, and that voice can satisfy, you will love this book. Appropriating the wisdom of C.S. Lewis from The Four Loves and Pope Benedict XVI from Deus Caritas Est, Brad Lussier helps to close the gap between Eros and Agape, and offers a fresh understanding of divine love. The sonnets in this collection will transport you to another era when those smitten penned their love, fourteen lines at a time.

Praise

"These sonnets are a reminder not only of the beauty and depth of intense, selfless love, but also of what it means to be human, complete with fears, vulnerabilities, and frailties... I'm sure the world would be a better, happier place if we each savored a sonnet a day, allowing our hearts to beat in empathy with the exquisite, sensitive journey of the poet in love. And what better place to start than with this charming volume?"
Joanna Weir Ouston, Oxford School of Drama
"At this time, when there is so much anger and violence in the world it is a wonderful gift to be invited to bring attention to ‘Love’ and not hate. This poetry speaks clearly to the agony and ecstasy of romantic love, plumbing
the depths of these powerful emotions—helping me remember, and in some way understand, through the power of the rhyme and structure of the verse, my own experiences. I also enjoyed reading and thinking about the connection of
Storge, Eros and Agape and Philia. I encourage people to get this collection of sonnets. They are very accessible and will ring true and deeply move each reader, with an understanding that each of us has known what it is to love and be loved, and the joy and heartache of the experience."
Elizabeth Ingram, Syracuse University
"These Love sonnets are stunningly alive, on fire if you will with not only the flames of the themes of personal love but also of the subtle crafting within the sonnet structure! The flames of Eros captivate the reader from the prologue and introduction to the sonnets themselves. The reader is invited into an intimacy with both the poet and the setting. How Does He Love Me is an affair of the heart waiting to be tasted."
Jennifer Keishin Armstrong,
"Brad Lussier's passion sings in How Does He Love Me? Those lucky enough to read this book will be reacquainted with the vitality of the sonnet form and inspired by how many ways we may express love to our beloved. Each sonnet bursts with imagery, giving us bouquets of language that perfume and color the page. This book awakens the sure hope that love longs to dwell in all of us and once residing, is ours to share."
