Children of the Light is two resources in one!
The Advent Wreath-Making Workshop is the perfect tool for putting together a fun intergenerational event that helps your people make their own Advent wreath and teaches them how to use it. This a great way to bring faith into households and encourage prayer at home. In our experience, children will encourage their parents to pray all the more with a wreath they have made together. This part of the resource includes:
- A detailed sample schedule for the event
- A detailed supply list with suggestions for vendors
- Recipes for Wassail (apple cider)
- "Learning about Advent Wreaths" handout
- "Blessing of Advent Wreaths" handout
- Editable sign-up form, poster, and supply price sheet
Readings for Lighting the Advent Wreath includes two variations for prayer that can be used by families at home or in larger community settings four each week of Advent and during the Christmas season:
-
The adult reader version uses descriptive language to help create a holy space for prayer and meditation. A reader introduces the lighting and the people respond by singing a short line from a familiar Christmas hymn.
-
The simplified version was designed for families with young children, and can be read aloud by children with some coaching.
